UPDATE: Ted Failon’s wife, Trinidad Etong, has been pronounced clinically dead at around 8pm 16 April 2009. Our condolences to the Etong Family.
Ted Failon was arrested by the police for allegedly tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice in relation
with the shooting of his wife Trinidad Etong. Ted Failon rushed his wife to the hospital at around 1pm, 15 April due to a gunshot wound to the head. Suicide was reported to be the cause of the gunshot wound.
However, police has expressed their doubts that the wife of broadcast journalist Ted Failon committed suicide because the wound in her head was apparently not a result of a contact shot.
“Initially, ang nakita ng doctor, smudging is not a contact shot. So medyo malayo ang epekto ng smudge… May burnings iyong buhok n’ya, so medyo malayo, hindi naka-contact. Usually in…cases of suicide contact shot palagi,” Mabanag said.
Ted Failon was arrested midnight for apparently tampering with evidence.Failon ordered that the bathroom where his wife was found be cleaned. The blue Pajero used to transport his wife to the hospital was also cleaned before the police arrived in Ted Failon’s residence yesterday at 4pm.
